Henley Street Theatre and Richmond Shakespeare’s education department offers students of all ages the opportunity to engage in Shakespeare’s works with vigor; using Shakespearean theatrical practices, our hands-on educational model encourages intellectual, emotional and social development.

Dear Educator: 

Henley Street Theatre and Richmond Shakespeare are excited to invite you and your students to join us for educational performances, Shakespearean classes during the school year and 2015 Bardathon.  New this year we will also be offering two touring productions – Romeo and Juliet and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised]

We at Henley Street Theatre and Richmond Shakespeare strongly believe in the importance of live theatre and the effect that it can have on students of all ages. We have seen firsthand the countless benefits that students receive both from watching live theatre and from creating their own, and we are deeply committed to bringing these opportunities to your students in ways that are accessible, engaging, and affordable.

It is 1606, and Shakespeare has been commanded to write a propaganda play about the Gunpowder Plot, in service to King James.  Will he agree to be a pawn in the cynical gamesmanship of the king’s spymaster, or will he equivocate—lie by telling the truth?

For Equivocation and Romeo and Juliet, the ticket cost also includes a study guide to review the play with your students, and a fantastic opportunity to get into the creative process through a post-show talk-back with the cast and director. Space is limited, so reserve now to hold the best dates. 

NEW THIS YEAR – Let us come to you!  Touring dates for Romeo and Juliet are available February 16th through March 27th, 2015.  Cost: $1,500.   In addition to a study guide and a post-show talkback, we will also conduct a workshop for your students that can be custom-tailored to your needs!

 

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)

CWSee what happens when three of our most talented actors attempt to perform all 38 of Shakespeare’s plays in just two hours! This hilarious production includes Othello as a rap, Titus Andronicus as a cooking show and all of the histories as a football game.

Let us come to you! Complete Works is available anytime during the school year.  Cost: $1,500

Use this production as a fundraiser for your drama department. It’s easy! Just book this show in the evening hours and charge guests a $5 admission fee, and all profits (minus the $1,500 booking fee) are yours to keep.
